TORQUE CALIBRATION

Torque Calibration

Torque calibration is the process of verifying and adjusting the accuracy of a torque wrench or other torque measuring tool. The calibration process involves comparing the readings of the tool to a known standard or reference, and making any necessary adjustments to ensure that the tool is measuring accurately.

Torque calibration is important because it ensures that the torque wrench or other torque measuring tool is providing accurate measurements. Inaccurate measurements can result in errors during assembly, potentially leading to product failures, equipment damage, or safety hazards. Calibration also helps to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reduce the risk of liability for manufacturers or service providers.

Regular calibration also helps to identify any issues with the tool before they become significant problems. Early detection of issues can reduce the need for repairs and increase the lifespan of the tool. Overall, torque calibration is critical for maintaining accuracy, complying with regulations, reducing liability, and prolonging the life of the tool.

Using the A.K.O. TSD650-BT Torque Calibration System we are able to calibrate manual torque tools up 800 lbf·ft with precision and speed. We can provide commercial and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited torque calibration.

Our torque calibration range and accuracy is as follows:

0 to 200 lbf·in ± 0.1% of reading + 0.02 lbf·in

50 to 800 lbf·ft ± 0.1% of reading + 0.1 lbf·ft

Industries We Serve

  • What calibration service options are available?
Standard Calibration (ANSI/NCSL Z540.1) This service options includes a NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) traceable calibration certificate with instrument identifcation, calibration date, method used and before/after calibration data. Most companies choose this option. ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accredited Calibration Calibration is performed in accordance with ISO 17025 and is traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). The calibration certificate includes the accrediting body's logo, measurement uncertainty, instrument identifcation, calibration date, method used and before/after calibration data.
  • Some of our instruments are difficult to move. How do we get it calibrated?
When your instruments are difficult to move or when downtime is not an option, we can provide On Site Calibration Services. Our metrologists will visit your facility and take all of the required standards to perform the calibrations. Your instruments can be put back in service as soon as the calibration is complete and in most cases we will provide the calibration certificates on the following business day.
  • How often should calibration be performed?
Calibration interval should be decided by the customer based on specific company requirements. For most instruments, the manufacturer's recommended calibration interval can be found in the manual.
